Phoenix presents his authentic lyrical wisdom and soul-filled vocal styling through 13 songs uniquely aligned with producers and musicians who have worked with such artists as Celine Dion, Ludacris, The Diplomats, Chaka Khan, Lil Wayne, Michael Bolton, Heather Headley and Neo.
“For The People” kicks off the album with a universal message and infectious beat from Bronx Hip Hop producer’s The Heatmakerz. Los Angeles R&B and Hip Hop producer, KP Wilson, who provided the remix on Tupac Shakur’s “Mama’s Just A Little Girl” (Better Dayz) sets off the next three tunes, “Hate To Love You,” “Sweet Freedom,” once considered for recording by both Beyonce and Santana, and “Just Like You”. At number five, noted producer, musician and long-time J. Phoenix collaborator, Gary Haase, steps in with “Conversation” and lends his talent to five additional songs including “Be Around” from the film, “The Brothers”. Production for “Maybe One Day,” comes from Eric Codee who counts Mary J. Blige and Marcus Miller among his clients; and the title song, “MASTERPIECE” is produced by Bert Price, known for his work with R&B legends Blue Magic and Ray Goodman & Brown, as well as new faces on the music scene such as Alicia Keys.
