German producer David August releases his third studio album on PIAS only six months after the success of his ambient work ‘DCXXXIC A.C.’. Entitled ‘D’Angelo’, the album bravely situates itself within the reach of a multitude of genres, the Balearic atmospheres witnessed throughout stemming from what August cites as a general Mediterranean preoccupation developed through contemplation of his family heritage. With reverb drenched vocals and strong noir energies, August’s latest work is both accessible and highly personal.
