All proceeds will go directly to the artists tied to the Oakland community who were effected by the tragedy.
Where does Oakland end and Denver begin? We’re a continuous human loop, energy going in and music coming out. Our art is one in the same, yet totally unique to our exterior experiences, bending at our whims and aligning when the time and sound is right. Geography is the thing that keeps us physically apart, but we find ways to circumvent it. We’ve slept on each other’s floors, shared each other’s mixing boards, rubbed shoulders to the beat in the warehouses of our minds.
There is no one unified “Oakland sound,” just as there is no universal “Denver sound”; our intimate DIY world – now ripped open for the world to see -- has kept us on the same psychic plane for decades. When we can’t make the interstate treks or the flights out to play for each other, we astral project ourselves into each other’s intimate spaces.
For you, Oakland, we will continue to share our standing offer of exchanging music in safe spaces. For us, just promise that you’ll never stop creating. We cry for you, Oakland. We fight for you, Oakland. We play for you, Oakland.
