SWIM~

While the newest release from swim may not sound like ‘yer average swim release (ie no electrickery and no one from WIRE plays on it or produces it!) Rhodes are nevertheless steeped in classic swim attitude/style.

Discovered as a demo on Ian Camfield’s, XFM Rock Show the Rhodes sound is raw fast LOUD rock with an emphasis on LOUD yet although this bunch of East London located Northern exiles are a real “stand up” rock band their records are all produced in the ubiquitous “bedroom PC” style so beloved of swim artists young and old!

It has to be said that so far very few rock bands (apart from silo and WIRE) have really taken on board the digital possibilities that electronic musicians have been playing about with for years but rest assured that Rhodes have and their almost industrial use of distortion (the master mix was so LOUD that the sound had to be turned down to guarantee successful mastering!!) is taking them places that conventional recording could never get them. Believe us when we say that in a few years there will be a ton of bands making records like this!

So far just a handful of promos have gone out to radio but these have already garnered plays on Radio One’s “Evening Session” and secured John Kennedy @ XFM’s “Big One” slot for the week beginning 14th October. On the live front they have already been bagged for an upcoming Sonic Mook show under the enthusiastic encouragement of Sean Mcluskey.
