Released as a free MP3 download sent via The Residents' mailing list. The email suggests it might also be titled (The Residents Spend Six Minutes) Searching For Satisfaction, however both the ID3 tag and file name refer to it as Six Minutes Of Satisfaction.
Release notes sent via email:
Greetings fellow Rez compulsives, we (and The Residents) hope all is well and your third eye remains well squeegeed! Won't keep you - our eyeball pals just wanted you to have the attached MP3, a recent construction charting the evolution of their classic 'Satisfaction' single. It'll also be given away to newbies signing up to this mailing list but, y'know, as you've been around a while The Rez wanted you to have it first. Sweeeeeet.
It's been noted elsewhere (the liner notes for 'Leftovers Again?!' if memory serves) that The Residents spent an unprecedented amount of time perfecting the sound they were looking for on 'Satisfaction'. Seriously, over twenty versions exist (mostly not great), in comparison to a couple at most when it comes to other key tunes. Nobody really remembers why, but here are some hand-picked highlights. Oh, and because THEY thought it was hilarious they've called it '(The Residents Spend Six Minutes) Searching For Satisfaction'. They should be so lucky.
