Track 1 was composed for the 1957 film Die Bekenntnisse des Hochstaplers Felix Krull.
Track 2 was composed for the 1959 film Buddenbrooks.
Tracks 3 to 7 were compsed for the 1964 film Tonio Krüger. Track 7 however ended up in the soundtrack of the 1977 film Unordnung und frühes Leid.
Tracks 8 to 10 were composed in 1978 for the 1979 TV mini-series Buddenbrooks.
Tracks 11 to 15 were composed in 1981 for the 1982 film Der Zauberberg (and its extended 1984 TV-Version).
Tracks 16 to 20 were composed for the 1982 film Doktor Faustus.
Track 21 was composed in 1993 for 1994 film Mario und der Zauberer.
