This recording contains the major climactic scene from Cavalli’s opera L’Ormindo, as well as opera and oratorio duets by Handel and Monteverdi.
It also contains two world-premiere recordings: a duet from Agostino’s Steffani’s opera La Liberta Contenta and a Handel cantata for two altos, “Caro autor di mia doglia”.

The edition of L’Ormindo used in this recording was prepared for Pinchgut Opera by Peter Foster, Venetian Opera Works (2009).
