1 : recorded somewhere in Acton in 1987 (about ten years after the original instrumental from Charlie Haden's Chairman Mao from the LP 'Old and New Dreams') 3 : This track consists of 2 different live recordings of the same piece edited together; first half is from a concert in Milano 12/12/1986, the second from a live performance in Pantigilante, near Milano, 29/05/1987. 4 : the original sounds were taken from a 1959 recording by Le Choeur des Moniales Benedictines du Precieux-Sang from Mt. Laurier, Quebec. The recording was called 'Polyphonie Gregorienne' and Christi Crucifixi Ultima Verba was one of the songs on the LP. 5 : Recorded Jan. 30, 1988 at Rotary Totem, Los Angeles. 6 : Recorded at 'the forest' (Skog Skattegard, Sturefors, Sweden) in July 1987. 8 : Completed 1987. 9 : All done in December 1987 at mumble-mumble studios pic. 10 : Produced for BBC 1's Saturday live show. Released by arrangement with BBC enterprise Ltd. (p) BBC 1987. As the programme title indicates, this was a live improvised performance. 11 : Recorded February 1986 at the Frigo Palace. 13 : Recorded in Milano. The sounds of missiles are taken from television news (Beirut reportage). While Giovanni tries to play the electric guitar, Roberto massacres his solos with a ring modulator. 14 : Recorded in Luciano's bedroom, April 1987. Remixed and edited in the Kitchen, December 1987. 16 : Recorded live for KUSC-FM radio at a concert presented by the independent Composers Association on March 10, 1987 at the Japan America Theatre, Los Angeles. 17 : Recorded at Cluster Studio, Oslo 18, 19, 20 : composed and arranged by Jean Derome as part of the soundtrack to Paul Strand, Under the Dark Cloth, a film by John Walker.
