Comprised of all the 19 tracks on the 1996 2xCD version of Casino Classics [where CD1 was the same as the Mixes bonus disc of the Too Young To Die singles compilation from 1995 - a compilation of remixes from 1990-94; and CD2 all new remixes (of mainly all new songs) at the time] – and an additional 25 remixes, with a drastically rearranged track order.
A further 13 remixes (Casino Classics Bonus Downloads) were available as downloads on the official Saint Etienne website after inserting CD1 from this collection and registering on the site (They're not available there anymore). The URL is printed in the booklet. - - -
On the release, only the names of the remixers are listed next to the track titles, but in the track listing here the most complete and correct (often also the earliest used) mix names are used. On the track list on the official Saint Etienne site, Mix was simply added to each remixer name thus generating alternate mix names for most tracks - on occasion erroneous, as in 3-1, named Masters At Work Mix, when the mix is actually Masters At Work Dub. The 'site' mix names are used here only when no other mix name is known to exist.
Some mastering errors have been made when configuring the tracks for this release: – the last few seconds of 1-4 Speedwell (Flying Mix) have been moved to the beginning of 1-1 Only Love Can Break Your Heart (A Mix Of Two Halves). – 2-3 The Sea (PFM Mix) is reduced to 4:50 and consists of the second half of the original 9:35 mix. – 3-9 Sometimes In Winter (Psychonauts Mix) ends with the first half of The Sea (PFM Mix). – 3-3 Nothing Can Stop Us (Lionrock Mix) ends with a sound from the intro of 3-9 Sometimes In Winter (Psychonauts Mix).
These errors speak to the probability that the 1996 release has been used as master for this 2012 release, as 1-4 and 1-1 on 2012 appear consecutively as 1-4 and 1-5 on 1996, 3-9 and 2-3 on 2012 as 2-5 and 2-6 on 1996, and 3-3 and 3-9 on 2012 as 2-4 and 2-5 on 1996. As there is no audible difference in sound between 1996 and 2012, it is questionable if the 2012 version was actually remastered at all.
1-3 Kiss And Make Up (Midsummer Madness Mix) is mastered from a vinyl copy. [The track fades out early, apparently to avoid the vinyl background noise – but bizarrely starts with 5-6 seconds of pure vinyl noise].
