On June 11, 1986 I sat down on the floor of Grant Avenue Studio and recorded these two solos fpr Kayakum - a traditional, 12-string harp from Korea. Kayakum is the traditional instrument for long, improvised solos known in Korea as Sanjo. Despite attempts to formalize this music, Sanjo remains today much as it must have been nearly 1000 years ago - a thoughtful, spontaneous expression of music.
