This radioplay was considered harmful to minors by a German court and was therefore included on the Liste der jugendgefährdenden Schriften (aka Index) on Sept. 30 1986. As a consequence, the radioplay could not be sold anymore to buyers below the age of 18 and also could not be advertised or displayed in the public anymore. This finally led to the discontinuation of all horror radioplay series by Miller International/EUROPA, i.e. Larry Brent, Macabros Dämonenkiller and Gruselserie, with already announced future episodes left unproduced.
As part of the radioplay revival Die Rückkehr Der Klassiker, started by BMG in 1999, all of the above mentioned horror radioplay series were re-released, with some episodes shortened to avoid similar conflicts with German jurisdiction. The reissue of Die Schlangenköpfe des Dr. Gorgo was one of the most heavily edited radioplays, alongside [m=1695372].
