And The Beat Goes On...

...and on, and on, and on. A year ago, we celebrated the release of Gold Seal Presents 80's Funk Classics, a modest little package with the intent to quench your thirst for the funkier, more stylish sounds from the decade of bad mullets and three kilogram mobile phones. Predictably, the compilation caused a funktastic frenzy and accumulated impressive sales through word-of-mouth alone. Although delighted with the response, we weren't in the least bit surprised; with the bulk of contemporary R&B and, to some extent, modern house, being influenced by the seemingly eternal appeal of 80's-processed electrofunk, there's little wonder why the grooves continues to wets whistles 20 years on.

So even now, a year after we reacquainted you with those familiar sounds, it's clearly obvious the last thing you want is the beat to stop, thus we've rewarded you with another 39 tunes (TUNE!). Gold Seal Presents 80's Funk Classics 2 picks up where Volume 1 left off. All major players have returned to make an inevitable second 'appearance', including The Whispers ('And The Beat Goes On'); Midnight Star ('Operator'); Chaka Khan ('I Feel For You'); The Dazz Band ('Joystick'); and of course, Rick James' ('Super Freak'). We also welcome some 'new' but equally prolific artists, including The Bar-Kays ('Sexomatic'); Grandmaster Flash & Melle Mel ('White Lines'); The Brothers Johnson ('Stomp!'); Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam( 'I Wonder If I Take You Home' (recently nodded at by Black Eyed Peas); plus tracks by The Pointer Sisters, Atlantic Starr, Nu-Shooz, Starpoint and The Deele (the latter of which was responsible for bringing Babyface and L.A. Reid to prominence).

As with Volume 1, we've mixed the tracks DJ-style to offer you an authentic experience, giving you two and a half hours of non-stop aural nostalgia.

We're certain you'll enjoy grooving along to Volume 2 as you did to 1. So until Volume 3, keep on funking.
