Producer's note: The vision of this Mosaic Select was to present some of the more jazz flavored Capitol releases by Johnny Mercer. Due to space limitations we have selected only those sides from Capitol's first year of operation (1942) through 1947, at which point Mercer was out of the decision making process and a second recording ban by the musicians union was about to go into effect. Although the sound quality of these sessions will differ from track to track, we have made every effort to obtain the best possible source. These came in the form of either the original lacquer disc or a commercially released 78. There are seven sides which have Freddie Slack's Orchestra backing Mercer. These can be found on Mosaic Select: Freddie Slack (MS-018).
