Two long form pieces for an octet of winds and strings. Composed by Aram Shelton in 2002.

Notes for 'Octet':

The eight musicians in this piece are split into two quartets; described as Group 1 and Group 2. These two groups move independently of each other, with a common tempo. Two leaders give cues for the groups to move from measure to measure. The pace should be moderate, the leaders should allow many repetitions of each measure and be observant of when the other leader gives the cue to move on so as to avoid moving at the same time.

The musicians enter the piece in pairs as marked on the score. These pairs should wait to enter until at least one measure has been played by the previous pair. Once all musicians are playing the group leaders will begin the cue process as described above. The musicians finish the piece in the same manner, two at a time, but by cues given by the leader of Group 1.
