First-performance rights given to New Haven Symphony Orchestra, Connecticut (spelt incorrectly on Side A label as Newhaven), who gave the first modern performance on January 13 1970. Pierre Boulez obtained first-recording rights, and gave the first UK public performance of the work on 21 April 1970 at the Royal Festival Hall in London.
