“My Fellow Canadians”, Rich Little's “Spoof on Canadians in High Places” which Capitol Records of Canada, Ltd. released in March of 1963, presented Rich as the foremost comedy impersonator in this country. The unusually large number of voices that he performed in that LP, all of which were Canadian, is topped in this, his newest release.
Twenty-two personalities, of international fame are impersonated here in the perennial portrayal of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”.
Completely produced, directed, adapted, and acted by this versatile son of Canada's capital, “Scrooge And The Stars” has been a five year program. It began with Rich's radio career when as a D.J. he threw it in ‘live’ for kicks. The results made a Christmas tree out of the station switchboard, and the following year, requests for the performance were received from other stations and the general public—and more so with each succeeding season. Finally, this year, Capitol Records decided it was time for everyone to get the chance to enjoy this novel version of the season's favorite story.
Rich's appearances on Canadian radio and TV and ‘in person’ shows have kept him on a busy schedule from coast to coast. The offers of U.S. TV and other entertainment media are, as of this date, presenting a strong appeal, and Rich Little’s talent should soon be presented to more and more North Americans. This talent specifically is the ability to perform ‘Socko Apings’ “(Variety)” of 72 world personalities, plus the singing voices of 12 more. The number and the accuracy of these impersonations are the indisputable qualifications that have earned him the title of “Canada's King Of Comedy Impersonators”.
