The concept:
Music for exhibiting water with contents: soundtrack for the Antwerp Zoo Aquarium. Hybryds started off with sounds that were digitally recorded in the aquarium and the dolphinarium of the zoo. Pumping-plants, ambient sounds and noises of Ivo and Dolly (the Dolphins) were interpreted and integrated in a musical sculpture. The sound sculptures are to take the audience in astonishment and surprise to the atavistic world of the sea, mother of all existence. To create that atmosphere ultrasonic sounds of dolphins, underwatersounds of sharks and sealions, the singing of orca's, dolphins and whales, noises of divers and human voices were used, seashells, rainmaker, didgeridoo, percussion objects, sax, DX7, sampler, cello and several processors completed this soundscape.

Special thanks to:
P. Van Den Sande & aquarium crew, J. Smolders & dolphinarium crew,
M. Verswijvel, P. Van Den Eijnde, H. Couteau (Antwerp Zoo), and
Dolphinarium Brugge: R. Van de Velde (underwater sound recordings) and
professor C. Kamminga (ultrasonics of dolphins).
Without these people this project could not have been realised.
