Sarah Ka'ilikea, considered to be a treasure of the Hawaiian island of Kaua'u, was a songwriter who was 89 years old when this album was put together in honor of her and her music. She sings and chants but also offers a story for some of the songs on the album, before the songs are performed by family and friends. The vocals are credited as being performed by Aunti Sarah's Musicians, who are Vergel Jepas, Tazhi Pu'uhonus Tavares, Abra Kaulala Crisostomo, and Lee Puakeala Mann, backed by a group of musicians, some of them well known, including Kenneth Makuakane and Casey Olson. Banyan Tree's mixture of music and dialogue comes off like an audio documentary of her life and living on Kaua'i.
