XP8 - 'Frames' --
All songs originally appear on 'Hrs:Min:Sec', released on September 2005 on Nilaihah Records.
A WORD FROM PAUL //// This has certainly been an eventful year for XP8, and we're glad that Kristy at Nilaihah Records gave us the opportunity to celebrate Hrs:Min:Sec with this release. The unreleased remixes you find included on this admiriable CD make up the single Frames. As such, it includes tracks from that album, reworked, abused, and remixed by friends and fellow musicians. The tracks were all chosen by the remixers, and they touch on the usual XP8 topics: cutting, bleeding, drinking, the decay of the human race, use and abuse, and torture (hey, we party hard!). We'd like to thank all the people who have helped us on our voyage, and of course, the remixers who lent their skills to our children. If you want to find the lyrics to these songs, then you'll be glad to know the sleeve for Hrs:Min:Sec has them included, another good reason to support your favourite artists by buying their CD. MP3's just don't give the same satisfaction. And we know where you live...
Ghost & Writer - 'From Hell' --
'FROM HELL' LYRICS //// I sold my soul //// So they put me on the TV //// In a series with bad characters //// Who never fail to fight //// We are on air //// And privacy is rare and //// The rain has come down for days //// So I might just fade away (today) //// Hello, hello //// This is hell, can you hear me //// I've been writing you a letter //// But it's always catching fire //// Hello from hell //// Are you receiving //// The message in your nightmares //// That was me //// I am still alive //// I'm dangling from a cross //// For dishonesty and lack of love //// My lies have failed //// Here's the price I have to pay //// I'm dangling from this cross //// For adultery and too much lust //// My lies have failed //// She's the price I have to pay //// I'm in my see-thru skin today //// She's the law I must obey //// Hello, hello //// This is hell, can you hear me //// I've been writing you a letter //// But it's always catching fire //// Hello from hell //// Are you receiving //// The message in your nightmares //// That was me //// I am still alive
'HITMAN' LYRICS //// Thinking back //// It's harder to explain //// At the time I thought //// Sensible plan //// My life was a dead end //// It had been for years //// I wanted the end //// I scouted bridges //// Studied toxins //// Oh, and I got myself a gun //// But in the end //// I couldn't do it //// Need assistance //// What I needed was a hitman //// And with a notion of diligence //// And with a hint of arrogance //// She locked her target //// And looked at me //// Hitman //// Blunt lack of common sense //// I'm dumbstruck by the elegance //// The beauty of her //// Rescue me //// Something was wrong //// Something was wrong //// Something was wrong //// Slighly dreamy I know //// But let's move on //// Arrangements were made //// Through high-security channels //// There are amazing sites //// Service was offered //// With all due respect //// We set a date and time //// And with a printed confirmation //// And dressed up for the occasion //// I waited in the park //// I must admit //// That I got slightly nervous //// With the approach of the dark //// How was I to know? //// How was I to know? //// With a notion of diligence //// With a hint of arrogance //// She locked her target //// And looked at me //// Hitman //// Blunt lack of common sense //// I'm dumbstruck by the elegance //// The beauty of her //// And she killed me //// And she killed me
GASR - 'Heavy' --
AN ESSAY BY GARY SUAREZ WRITTEN OCTOBER 2006 //// In its May/June 2006 issue, Foreign Policy Magazine posted the latest installment of its annual Failed States Index. For clarity, the people behind this project lay out their definition of terms: For the purposes of this index, a failing state is one in which the government does not have effective control of its territory, is not perceived as legitimate by a significant portion of its population, does not provide domestic security or basic public services to its citizens, and lacks a monopoly on the use of force. A failing state may experience active violence or simply be vulnerable to violence. //// At the time of this writing, Iraq, ranked number 4 on the index, is experiencing another brutal month, some say its bloodiest yet. Some call it sectarian violence and insurgent terrorism. Others call it civil war and hell on earth. The Taliban, once assumed defeated, has resurfaced in Afghanistan (number 10) to an extent where even the mainstream media can ignore it no longer. These states have failed because we, aggressive invaders elaborately draped in the principles of freedom, have failed them. The people of these countries struggled under dictatorship, and we've instead given them chaos. Instead of liberating these nations as so publicly promised, we've plundered their resources, shuffled our feet over vital reconstruction, and transformed them into unstable territories barely run by inept legislatures and puppet figureheads. //// At home, Americans in particular seem to offer little to no concern for the immense human suffering our leadership has wrought and continues to wreak through action and inaction. Ideologues and pundits play politics to keep us from demanding honest answers to big questions, but more prevalently we choose not to even ask these questions. We're caught in the minutia of our daily lives, compelled more by the antics of reality television stars than the savagery inflicted in our name. We drown in our personal debts and even more personal heartache, unwilling to acknowledge that the blood of innocent men, women, and children are on our hands. To say nothing against this compound atrocity, to do nothing to rectify the situation, to despair or disdain, is cowardice and ignorance. Those in charge, however, would prefer to call it patriotism.
GASR THANKS //// We are grateful to our wives Naomi and Shaina, and to our families for their continued support. We would also like to give special thanks (in no particular order) to Kristy and staff at Nilaihah for sticking with us, Charles of Lost Signal, Joe/Miranda of of Derma-Tex, Eric from Interface, Matt from Caustic, and all the journalists and activists out there who are unafraid to stand up for human rights and stick their necks out to do so. We are forever indebted to you.
