TAKE NUMBERS listed here are true take numbers determined by actual sequence. If an item became known by an incorrect take number, that number will appear in brackets after the true number.
MASTERS were the takes selected during Charlie Parker's lifetime for the original issue.
ALTERNATE are complete performances of the same tunes issued later. Irregular procedures and sloppy bookeeping resulted in a large number of alternate takes being labelled as master during the LP era. These alternates will be noted in the listings as LP takes.
INCOMPLETE take which contains some improvisation by Bird.
MASTER and ALTERNATE denotes previously released material.
FALSE START, INCOMPLETE and COMPLETE denotes previously unreleased or recently discovered material.
Tracks 1-7, 2-4, 4-18 to 4-33, 7-6 to 7-12, 9-8 to 9-20, 10-2, 10-5, 10-13 to 10-18, 10-20, and 10-23 to 10-25 are previously unreleased.
