'Cool' and with swinging understatement, the A'dam Quartet presents a selection of standards in the tradition of the westcoast clubmusic of the 1960's à la Gerry Mulligan, Chet Baker and Lee Konitz. The focus is on relaxed and melodic improvisations, labeled 'cool' since the legendary recordings by Miles Davis.

The elegant piano accompaniment by Dirk Balthaus, Sven Schuster's driving basslines and Joost Kesselaar's subtle drumming interplay offer the opportunity for Jörn Anders to lay down some clear trumpet lines. The tunes have been called in the studio just before recording and arrangements were shaped spontaneously, creating the freshness that jazz is about...

Five songs feature singer, composer, author and actress Eva Kurowski, colouring the American songbook in her own way with a couple of German lyrics.
