German composer, music theorist, and conductor (1 April 1905 – 18 December 1963).
Private pupil of Arnold Schoenberg, he is also responsible for completing the score of the oratorio Die Jakobsleiter, which his former teacher had left unfinished, at the request of Schoenberg's widow.
