His Royal Badness was one of several nicknames of
Prince, likely penned by journalists or radio hosts throughout the
[m=22044] and
[m=22024] era. While it was primarily used informally, for instance, on bootleg albums (like
Intimate Moments With His Royal Badness ’89 LP and
[m=429538] in 1990), the artist himself embraced the title on at least one occasion. The
NPG’s second album,
[m=152986], released by NPG Records in March 1995, was dedicated to the memory of His Royal Badness.
