Alan A. Freeman

Main image

British producer.
Born: September 27, 1920
Died: March 15,, 1985
Freeman co-founded the [l431617] label in 1949 with Leslie Clark (producing recordings by his daughter, Petula Clark, until 1963) and later worked for [l196211] (later [l11716]) after a company merger. He was Lonnie Donegan's producer for a period in the 1950s. He also produced a live recording of a London performance by Marlene Dietrich and records featuring British comedian Tony Hancock; the re-enactments of Hancock's television programmes The Blood Donor and The Radio Ham for an LP was a best seller in 1961. During the 1970s, Freeman was a frequent panellist on ATV's Saturday night talent show, New Faces.
